Tauranga Girls’ College Football Information 2018

Welcome to Tauranga Girls’ College Football Information Page.  Football provides students with an excellent opportunity to be involved in a team, gain skills and fitness and participate in the wider life of the school.

Trials:

Trials will be held after school at Tauranga Girls College Fields 1 and 2.  Girls attending Summer Sports Tournaments should prioritise those tournaments and preparation for them and should advise the Director of Football, Scott Harrison [email protected] ASAP if they cannot attend Football trials. Players hoping to play in the Premier or Development teams will need to attend trials. 

Trial Registration Form

Teams will be announced on Wed 28^th March.

Social teams who do not wish to trial must still register and pay their fees and they will be placed in appropriate teams

Player On-Line Registration: “My Comet”

Last years on-line system has been replaced with “My Comet” NZ Football’s new registration system. Football registration is online and parents need to complete the online registration form by clicking the REGISTER link at the bottom of this page and completing all details by Friday 2^nd  March.  

Existing New Zealand footballers, you have already been sent a login and password from NZ Football based on your prior club registration. NOTE: You may find your user name and password in your junk or spam email folder.  You need this username and password in order to register with “MyComet”, the new Football registration system.

New players – click the same link at the bottom of the page and then click – the blue “SIGN UP” next to the words “I don’t have an account”

You must be registered to be eligible for consideration for a team. Registration is not complete until fee payment has been made

Fees :

Once registered, please pay fees of $90 or at least a deposit of $45 with your registration and complete fee payments by Fri 6^th April. If paying by cash or cheque note clearly Student name, Tutor class and ”Football Fees” to the school fees office or,  by online banking as indicated below – this completes the registration process

Director of Football: Scott Harrison 

We are excited to announce the appointment of a new position - Director of Football, Scott Harrison who begins this year. Scott brings a wealth of football experience to the school along with an exciting Strategic Plan for TGC Football over the next three years.  Scott Harrison [email protected]

Football Staffing at TGC 

Thanks to those who have registered interest in coaching, manager or referee positions – further appointments will be made to the Football Steering Committee after trials and team selections have taken place. Please register your interest with the Steering Committee ASAP if you are interested in volunteering in Football at Tauranga Girls’ College. We will be contacting individuals to discuss coaching roles in due course. Experience is required for the competitive teams but also coach training will be provided. For the social teams We cannot and will not run teams if we have no coaches for a team –  Please email [email protected].  Also, each team requires a referee to cover home games, so any interested referees please email. Club Based Referee (CBR) Training is available and provided for team referees and this commences very soon in Term 1 and must be pre-booked so please indicate if you would like to be a team Referee.

Uniforms: 

Football tops and shorts (the strips) are on loan from the school to the players and must be kept in good condition (washed each week). Uniforms will be issued to individuals at the Sports Office once teams have been named and Football fees have been paid. Football socks can be purchased from the sports office for $15 a pair.  All players must wear shin pads. Tournament specific gear such as named shirts or sweaters are not included in the fees but can be arranged separately via the Sports Office as and when advertised. Students may order a TGC multi-sport hoodie from the sports office with their name and all the sports codes they represent at your own additional cost
