Our Pasifika Girls

Talofa lava, Malo ni, Malo e lelei, Kia arana, Ni Sabula Vinaka and warm Pasifika greetings to the families of Tauranga Girls’ College Pasifika Community Group.
We wish to communicate our gratitude to the Pasifika’s groups recent participation in the Pasifika By Nature Competition in Hamilton. They performed extremely well and represented the Pasifika culture at Tauranga Girls’ College with pride.  We were impressed with the preparation that went into choreographing the items that each group presented.  They were committed and motivated.
It was noted that the girls had vastly improved from the previous year, being placed 9th.  The judges had positive feedback to offer.  Please see below commentary -
The amount of effort put in was evident. Wow!! You did your best and it was a big step up from last year.  Well Done J So loved the performance.
Well Done Tauranga Girls’ College, Awesome Work!! Item transition and overall synchronization was outstanding.
Awesome, awesome, awesome.  Great group, well done school.
Strong cultural identities revealed from the performances.  Well done, and was extremely well executed.  The costumes were beautiful and acknowledge the hard work and contribution.  Keep it up.
Great enthusiasm and passion for the Samoan culture.  Love it.  Love your transitions to each culture.  All cultures showed showmanship from all students.  Musicianship was outstanding.
There will be a DVD of the event available for purchase soon.  We will inform your daughter when they may order this, if you wish to buy a copy.
The girls are currently organising fundraising events, so that we can start working towards Pasifika By Nature 2017. We would also like to express our sincere thanks to Mary Moataane who has volunteered to assist us with this process.
In July we have been asked to perform at Melrose Rest Home, as a result of the recent Sun Live article that showcased our group. The girls will be practising for this in the upcoming weeks.
We wish to acknowledge any support given by our Pasifika families in advance and look forward to working with you all to help grow our girls.
