Winter Footwear 2009

25 May 2009

Dear Parents / Caregivers

Re: Winter Uniform - Footwear.

At Tauranga Girls’ College we place high value on students wearing their uniform with pride as one way of acknowledging that they belong to “one team, one school, one community”.

At a meeting of the Board of Trustees on May 26th the Board confirmed that the school uniform code for winter footwear is as detailed in the School Prospectus, “black leather regulation lace-up flat shoes” and as pictured on the same page (28) of the prospectus.

The vast majority of our students are wearing the correct footwear but an issue has arisen this year where a number of students have purchased footwear that does not conform to that uniform code. This footwear is black, leather, polishable (not patent, suede, canvas or labelled) and lace-up.

The Board’s decision regarding this footwear, which is a more expensive alternative to the regulation shoe, is that for Winter 2009 only students may attend school wearing black, leather, polishable, (not patent, suede, canvas or labelled) lace-up shoes.

For 2010 the uniform code regarding shoes will be made more explicit to both students and footwear stockists and only the black leather regulation lace-up shoe will be permitted. A representative of the school has this week visited footwear stockists and supplied them with photos of the correct, regulation footwear.

We appreciate your ongoing support as together we maintain the high standards for which this school is valued and recognised.

Yours sincerely
