The Māori Prizegiving Ceremony is an opportunity for students of Māori descent to be acknowledged for their academic, sporting and cultural successes at Tauranga Girls College.
This awards evening is also an opportunity to recognise those students who participate in certain whānau groups including Tuakana / Teina, Te Ara Poutama and Kaupapa Māori Committee.
The evening begins with an official pōhiri at Te Whare Wānanga o Mereaira, then moves into the staffroom for a light supper.
The ceremony then begins with an array of awards and recognition from junior to senior levels, culminating in the Distinction Awards to conclude the evening.
This year, we were very fortunate to be able to secure Marcus Winter as our guest speaker for the evening. An outstanding street artist who captivated and motivated our students with his “Lessons Learned from Landscape”. Ngā mihi aroha, ngā mihi nui atu e te rangatira.
